ADULT FRIENDS OF O'NEIL FARM - VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES Do you value local farming? Would you like to share your talents and skills, enjoy the outdoors, learn about dairy farming, and support one of the last remaining dairy farms on the South Shore? We are looking for adults who are interested in a variety of group projects around the farm, including stewardship of the Avery and Chandler Trails. Also, we are looking for volunteers who enjoy meeting with the public and would be interested in leading walks and talks on the farm and assist in special events, such as, Farm Day. This year's Farm Day will be held on September 15 and will celebrate Duxbury's 375th. All volunteers will be given the information necessary to assist in any of these events. Volunteering is an important role at the History O'Neil Farm, serving to connect communities with its local agriculture. JUNIOR FRIENDS OF O'NEIL FARM Do you love the outdoors and animals? The Historic O’Neil Farm in Duxbury gives us the opportunity to see a working dairy farm in action, and access to the animals that are raised to produce the milk we drink. The Junior Friends program will provide you the opportunity to learn about dairy farming and work with the dairy calves who grow up to be our future milking cows. Activities will be centered around learning how to approach and care for the cows, learning about the milking process, exploring the farm trails of the O’Neil Farm property, and participating in basic farm chores. An experienced leader will be on directing the activities at every meeting with the assistance of teen volunteers from our 4H club. |
