We thank all of the applicants to our RFP.
We look forward to updating our supporters once our review is completed.
The Historic O'Neil Farm Board is aware of the statements that have been made on social media. For a number of months we have engaged in an open RFP process with the cooperation and participation of Carl, who is an active board member, to accept applications. We have had positive discussions with a number of applicants.
To date, the cows and the dairy operation have been completely under Carl's control. He is the farmer. The continuation of dairy on the farm was indicated in the RFP as a strong preference, however, we did not require dairy to be part of a responder's proposed plan.
We sincerely appreciate all of the support the farm has received and the concern expressed for the future of Carl, the cows and the Historic O'Neil Farm. We share those concerns. The Board is committed to the mission of the organization which includes but is not limited to the preservation of the farm as a working farm, to arrange for educational programs intended to emphasize the importance of agriculture in the history and culture of New England and to preserve the historic landscape of the farm.
We are not able to communicate more about the RFPs at this time as we are in the midst of this RFP process.
If you would like to send a note to one or more of the Board members please direct those communications to [email protected].

We welcome your support and participation in carrying on the long tradition of the farm.
Thanks to Carl O'Neil's vision, the support of The Wildlands Trust of Southeastern Massachusetts in spearheading the campaign to preserve the farm, a town meeting vote, and the generosity of over 500 private donors, this piece of the Duxbury landscape will forever remain a farm. In 2005, Historic O'Neil Farm, Inc., is a private 501-3c corporation, was established to preserve the agricultural heritage of the O'Neil Farm. |
Visit the farm by parking on Autumn Ave in Duxbury, MA. The barnyard is currently not open for visitors.
